At Texas A&M University at Qatar, we know that students learn by doing. In the classroom, that means hands on training that encourages creative problem solving in real-world situations. Outside the classroom, it means students involve themselves in a wide range of extracurricular activities that encourage them to engage each other and the world at large. Through lecture series, volunteer days, athletics, charitable drives, and student government, to name a few activities, you will have various opportunities to maximize your education experience.
Housing
Male and female students live in separate on-campus housing close to the Texas A&M Engineering Building. The accommodations include shared flats that are fully furnished with living room, dining room and bedroom furniture. Each residence also has a common room equipped with cable TV, computers and a telephone with local service. Security services are provided on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Students also have access to all recreation and entertainment services and facilities offered by Education City. Currently in the planning phase are sport and exhibition centers, as well as retail shopping center on campus.
Aggie Athletics
Texas A&M University has a long-standing tradition of excellence in athletics competition. The campus in Qatar is no exception. Participation in athletics presents students with an opportunity to learn outside the classroom, improving leadership and communication skills in a team setting. Currently Texas A&M at Qatar has two male sports teams in basketball and soccer (football). Texas A&M at Qatar has one female sports team in basketball. Tryouts for interested students are scheduled during the fall semester. Playing a team sport offers the opportunity to compete with teams from other Education City institutions and teams throughout Doha.
Student Organizations
Texas A&M at Qatar encourages the development of student organizations to help you connect with others who share your interests. Getting involved in such organizations will enhance your leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills that are essential for a successful engineer. To date, students have organized over 25 clubs and organizations to reach out to one another. These student-led organizations are the infrastructure by which the Texas A&M at Qatar sense of family is extended into the community. Here at the Qatar campus, the Aggie tradition of community involvement has grown in fertile ground.
